| | Dear Readers, One of the constant frustrations for many thyroid patients is the fact that our friends, family and coworkers have no idea what it's like for those of us who have thyroid conditions. Because it's not necessarily a visible condition, they think we are making up our symptoms, or blaming our thyroid for laziness or overeating, or they underestimate the impact thyroid disease has on our lives. If you have someone like this in your life, read the "Open Letter" and then print out a copy to give to that person. You could open some eyes and hearts! Also this week, more news on the Japanese radiation issue, this time in terms of the effect on seafood. And if you're a family member or friend of someone with thyroid disease, what have you been through? Do you have ideas on how to best be supportive? Read what others have gone through, and tell your own story now. | Is Japanese Seafood Dangerous to Your Thyroid and Health? I went out to dinner this week for Japanese food. With radioactivity detected in the ocean near the Fukushima plant, and now in algae and fish in Japanese waters, I had to wonder if I got a side order of radioactive iodine 131 with my sushi?
